Charter a jet for $4...!!!! (JetSuite)

Is this the part where people hate on working conditions at Part 121 carriers?

-puts feet up and collects 4:30 holiday pay plus 5:10 displacement for yesterday and today for zero hours of block, and resumes watching Weeds[1]-

PROTIP if you are going to call Scheduling chumps (or less flattering things...) while on hold with them, mute your phone. (That is a two way street; more people need to understand that this is NOT personal and it's about COVERING THE FLYING.)

Well, yeah, duh.

That's why I'm 121...

[1] No, seriously. Mary-Louise Parker. Oh my.

The dispatcher was calling certain pilots chumps between calls. My writing must be off today...

I think working conditions at 121 jobs would be a big improvement but the pay leaves a lot to be desired.

Hope I haven't offended you or something.

Oh charter.... I have never understood selling empty legs like that, creates more work than its worth, doesn't cover the taxes of having revenue passengers on board, and doesn't lock them in as full paying customers, as if they were full paying customers, they wouldn't be buying a 4 dollar flight...

No, of course not.

Being free of present responsibility on my days off is wonderful. I don't really know anyone outside certain public safety or healthcare jobs that can just not answer the phone when they don't want to. It's about 1100 on a Sunday; the SO is probably going to start thinking about her job in another few hours here, and she checks email on the weekend. :/

You must mean regionals, because the pay at the top 3 is pretty awesome. Combine that with the QOL, it doesn't get much better in aviation.

You just want to fly an empty leg.
No, of course not.

I worked what's left of my ass off last week to assure myself a three day weekend, thus far I've only entertained phone calls from friends. Work can eat the big one.

Selling empty legs where the operator publishes a schedule isn't on demand. To run scheduled ops in a jet you need to be 121.

What I got out of that was "the customer has to negotiate something." We don't know the details. I suspect the JetSuite legal team put some controls in place (for example: those interested had to sign up and then were given a web-site with available $4 trips the day before).

Bigger picture: JetSuite got themselves in the NY Times, on CNBC, on Time.com, etc without paying any marketing costs. That's huge.

They never say they are going from one specific airport to another specific airport, so according to those slides its not really scheduled.
