Charging for Carry-On luggage?

The charge is obviously because Spirit seems to target mostly leisure travel, ie, people with bags for more than a 2 day business trip. Personally, I hope Spirit loses their ass on this one.

This is the same ploy other industries use. "First time customers get this rate for 6 months" and you have been a loyal customer, paying your bills on time and you call. You're paying more. "Sorry, for NEW customers only." So, I change vendors. I become someone else's new customer. The vendors tends to rely on momentum and habit, not thinking.

Plus if more CUSTOMERS refuse to fly, that means more space for non-revs and less chance of getting bumped.

What about jumpseaters?

I've heard a few other mainline's/mainline partners when listing to non-rev on them (even though activated as jumpseater) for commuting purposes, that if they have the bags checked= $$$$

I've never flown Spirit, but i'm curious what the domino effect COULD become.

Think it's time for me to buy one of these.
