Chantix is banned

My Flight Surgeon

Sr. Aviation Medical Examiner
The FAA banned Chantix for pilots and ATC personnel today. It was due to reports of increase accidents in drivers who take Chantix.

So what would this mean if someone was already on Chantix a week before the ban and still using it in order to quit smoking?

Let's say that the prescription was filled prior to the ban and you are still taking it up until another 2 weeks from the day it was banned. Does that mean that if I have a 1st class medical and I continue taking it past today, that I could risk jeopardizing my medical? Also, how would this be disclaimed on the 6 month re-up on the medical?

Thanks in advance.
