CHANGE TO JETBLUE J/S POLICY - Sorry folks

Effective Tue, May 31st, we will no longer allow OAL crew, pilot or F/A, to occupy a cabin jumpseat on our planes (or our own "non-CREW" people for that matter). Apparently we screwed up a good thing by letting an unauthorized non-jetblue person ride in one. I Don't know any details of the event and it doesn't matter anyway. I personally and sincerely apologize to all those who will now get left behind. Sorry folks.

Cockpit jumpseat policies remain the same.

Hey Fins,

What is the js # for you guys? I have a #, but was told it's an old one. Thanks for the rides from RDU, never had hard time. Not like my own carrier...

Aww man.......that stinks. Alot.

It was always a pleasure to ride on you guys out of JFK.
I often ran into problems getting home on our own metal or "momma d's" because of the dive in pass benefits. On top of that the DL people would be over there to make non-reving even worse.
About 50% of the time i would have to be in a cabin j/s it seemed.

Sorry guys may seem like a dumb question but is this in regards to the FA jumpseats or actual cabin seats?

Probably will see a reciprocating treatment now from other airlines.
Nature of the beast, look at AA and their policy, many airlines are now allowing only 1 AA pilot at a time

Just to be clear, the new policy only applies to flight attendant jumpseats. Open passenger seats are still available.

I think the number to list is 888-538-2997. Let me know if that doesn't work.

Well that's a horse of a different color then......

Apparently it's been a pretty crazy couple of months for jumpseating.

Riding USAirways last week, the captain told me a story of a guy from his carrier, with a company ID but was medically grounded and didn't have a current medical that got jumpseat access.

Well, the Feds freaked and apparently the captain who gave him a ride is under investigation for a potential suspension.

Or something like that.

Dang, I really liked that old policy on the airbus. 3 FA jumpseats and 2 cockpit seats resulted in me never being left behind. Oh well, at least the snacks are still awesome.

A TSA official snuck past an agent and boarded our flight at at outstation a few weeks back. By that logic the TSA should now be banning all passengers from boarding any flight at that outstation.

I am surprised that did not happen in ord.

That is the rumor i heard too. So why is said TSA clown not in jail, why does the pilot group get penalized....

Make it a little harder to get to MCO from EWR now to visit the inlaws but I still love the snacks! Once again I am pretty sure we have concluded the TSA is good for nothing

Well was the TSA guy "testing" JB's gate agent or was it just some TSA guy trying to get a free ride? The guy/gal was probably wearing normal street clothes except for the cheesey black pants w/blue stripe down the side and crappy KMart sneakers...it would have been a dead give away.

I doubt we will ever get the full story...

TSA makes it up as they go along. They seldom answer for their BS but the pilots always get the short end of the stick. Heck the TSA at metro said they hope they never get crewpass. They still view us as the enemy...

Anyone who lets most of the enemy through, is my enemy.

They fail enough GAO tests for me to conclude that they are not going to stop any attack by anyone. The attack will either be discovered by someone or some group and fail, or partically succeed, but the TSA will have nothing to do with it either way. Even some lazy, un-motivated terrorist who flunked out of Al Qaeda school could get past the jobs program that we have at the airports and everyone knows it.

And by saying I view the TSA as almost being my enemy, I mean the organization as a whole, and not necessarily the individual screeners (although at least 30% of them should be FIRED immediately).

This sneaking onto the plane nonsense makes me want to have what Northwest (and I assume a few others) used to have for jumpseating.

The jumpseater fills out a two sheet form, a white copy and a yellow one. They go down to the airplane and have the captain sign it. The gate agent knows they need that yellow copy back with the captain's signature on it. That way, there's no slinking onto a plane for a free ride without checking in up front. No TSA, or anyone else for that matter, waddling in with their ID in their pocket with the gate agent being done with them assuming they talked to the crew.

I agree. This similar to the same crap they pulled with Comair I think when they climbed up the pitot probes. I don't know who did but a fellow pilot was telling me he came out to his corp jet and found mx panels removed and or opened and of couse no one saw a thing. This of caused them to have a mechanic inspect everything. I can only sumise TSA was playing games again.

From what I've heard, it wasn't a test.

In addition, we have pretty much the most laid back jumpseat agreement in the industry. We were the only airline to allow OAL to cabin jumpseat on us, I don't believe any other airlines reciprocated that for our crews. It's a shame for our own crewmembers though.
