CFIs at Riddle/Prescott

[ QUOTE ]

This email is for all alumni who have a CFI, FII, and CMEL
certificate!

Our flight line application requirements for IPs has been
lowered to having the certificates, with NO DUAL GIVEN
REQUIRED.

If you meet these requirement, I urge you go to the ERAU -
Prescott Human Resources web page and apply on-line for
future interviews.

I'm getting my app in right now!

Talk to a friend last night - a Riddle Grad (He didn't get that corporate job, Mike D. . .

) - and he has been hired as a CFI by them WITHOUT 500 hours Dual Given. More like 50 hours dual given.

So, there's some dope for you....

I remember I applied for them last year. Never heard back at all. I think the hype is a couple months behind these flight instructors jobs. By the time you hear of a CFI position, already everyone and his mother have applied.

So, have we come to a conclusion if there's a minimum amount of dual given to be considered for employment at Riddle?

That's what I'm thinking too... but I'm a little hesitant if the most hours I can get a month is around 50. Of course... 50 hours a month is 50 more hours than I'm getting now...

Agree. IMO, it never hurts to toss in an resume/app. Who knows, the mins may be waived, in which case your resume will be there, and if not, there may be something else in your resume that'll make them pick you even if you don't meet all the mins.

IMO, apply and follow-up, especially if your options are limited right now.

I suppose even if I do get a interview/job offer there's nothing that says I need to take the job. Regardless, at this point in my life, any interview would be a good experience for me (I'm lookin' for my first flying job, and have yet to interview anywhere).

They use to have a 300 dual given minimum, but now they are in need of instructors. Those with a hundred or more will be looked at first, but this way they have more of an aplicant pool to choose from. Before 911 Riddle was in need of instructors so bad they offered a $3000 signing bonus. This just started the 14th, so some instructors at Riddle don't even know.

If you go to Riddle's job page this is what you will see.

I'm interested in the line that says:

"Salary: Based on the individual's qualifications."

What kind of $$$ range are we talking here? Anyone know?

yep, decent pay...full benies. They're union

.

On the positive note, you'll be teaching instrument students all the time. That's the only thing I regret about my job, I very rarely get to teach/fly instruments accept while tagging along on other non-school related flights.

One of my buddies jumped ship to instruct at Riddle here in Daytona. He said he spends a ton of time in the sims and about 20 hours in the airplane. It makes for fat paychecks, but 20 hours a month sure isn't much. Plus you have to wait quite a while to instruct in the sim, especially since they just hired 60 instructors.

Only the DAB instructors are union while PRC is not. Pay is based on dual given. Starting is around $14. Once you hit 700 Dual it goes up to around $17 and at 1200 dual it tops out around $21. That was as of a year ago. I don't know if its changed at all

well at least in daytona i think the plan is when they hire someone new they will go and just teach in the sim. then as higher senior guys leave then you move up and just fly. which will be mostly multi time. its not a bad deal if things keep goin the way they have been. In DAB about 8 or 9 instructors are leaving every month. so the upgrade time shouldn't be long.

They do both, though. At least in PRC, there aren't designated "sim" instructors, and separate "flight" instructors. The instructor will teach in both, but unfortunately he/she spends the majority of the time in the back of a sim.

The fact that they're now losing a TON of people should give them a much needed kick in the ass.
