Ok all you fellow CFI & CFII types, please chime in. First off, thanks PGT for the instrument handout. Now:
When I took the 'writtens' for my CFI, I took the Flight / Ground Instructor knowledge test twice. Once, to satisfy one of the requirements of the Flight Instructor Rating, and again (with the additional 12 questions) for the Advanced Ground Instructor Rating. (AGI)
Now I am working on the requirements for the CFII. I am having a hard time finding in 61 where it talks about the CFII requirements. Is the written just a regular instrument written? AND, to get the Instrument Ground Instructor, (IGI) do you have to take the test a 2nd time? I understand that it might seem unnecessary to get the IGI if I am going to get the CFII in the very near future. MY reason is, that I want to teach an instrument ground school, before I take my checkride. I taught a private ground school before getting my initial CFI, and it helped immensely in preparing for that checkride. (passed 1st attempt with OKC FSDO, so I HAVE to believe it helped.
)
I am looking to hammer this CFII out as efficiently as possible, to reduce cost, but I want to be well prepared as well. Thanks in advance for any input / advice offered.
