CFI pay

I heard a rumor that FlightSafety CFI's in Vero were getting paid over $50,000...

True or rumor?

Rumor, unless your speaking of a "Sim-Instructor." Then, yes, that would be a conservative number...50-70k a year.

For the regular CFI's over at the flight line....if you bust your "hump," (working 15 hour days - getting paid for 8) then 30k a year is what I've heard.

Maybe some others will "chirp" in if I'm wrong.

I suppose if someone never slept or and flew 8 hrs, and briefed for another 12 each day 7 days a week it would be possible. Otherwise its a rumor.

I wish though :)

Thanks for the replies. I originally heard the rumor a few months ago, and then again last week. I had to ask, but it seems that it was just a rumor then...thanks!

When I spoke to FSA they told me that you were likely to earn between $30 and $40k after deductions as a new CFI.

The wages may go up soon, other schools seem to be increasing slightly.

Well this is the info I got from the school, I can send you the email if you like.

I thought this school is suppost to be honest, obviously they havent been in this case.

I am sure they told you information that was correct, but not for a starting CFI. They probably said CFI's at FSA can make 39 thousand or 40 thousand a year... but those CFI's are also DE's and hold higher status.
