CFI looking for minimums...

Be dedicated, but don't say that!!! Market yourself as a flight review specialist, or make package deals for owner-operators, or something, but don't say "I'll do anything to build time..." There are enough people whoring themselves out in this industry, i.e., Gulfstream, etc.

Just my opinion, take it or leave it...

What's wrong with befriending someone with a multi and in exchange for the time, you buy them lunch? That sounds like the old fashioned way of networking to me....

Look at alternatives to fight instruction. Skydiver tossing. Banner tow. A skydive pilot will build ~10+ hours/day, more in summer, less in winter. A CFIs will never fly that much.

Chris, what you said is very different from what he left out there by itself. Yes, you could go find somebody with a multi and befriend them...very few and far between chances of it, but it has happened. Why not get the rest of the ratings (II/MEI) if he doesn't already have them to build the time, pick up some ferry flights, go skydiving and pick up a meat missile hauler job (how I acquired my first job in aviation, by the way). There are numbers of ways to get the time, but just don't make blanket statements like that, it could be taken the wrong way.

Once again, my opinion, take it or leave it.:)

So where are some places that I can go to build some multi time so I can get my MEI? I need 14.8 hrs, very soon, can anyone help?

Put your name out there for ferry flights, go hang out at airports so people know you, make sure whatever you do, if you should be getting paid for it, make them pay for it. Don't do ferry flights at your own expense, etc. If they're decent people, they know you should get paid, and if they're not willing to pay, then what else are they not willing to pay for (insurance, required MX, etc).

Good luck out there and let me know if you need other ideas. The more people know you're out there and a pro, the more flying you'll get.

Well I finally got a call for an interview on Tuesday at the University for an instructor job. Hope all goes well.

How does that work? Where would you go to market yourself for ferry flights?

(First post, by the way!! Good to be a part of the family.)

Put a flier up at the local FBO's (Get permission, of course), make up some business cards, put your name out on websites (I'm still getting calls from websites for CFI work in RI). Go hang out at the airport and get to know the CFI's. They know who comes in. If they're too busy, maybe they'll throw your name out there (not very likely, but you never know).

Welcome aboard!!

Well I finally got called up at the university. Now I have a full time job at MTSU. I hopefully will be busy now, with steady work! I am very happy. But I guess the thing is time, time will come when you will get hired by somebody. The thing is, do you want to wait, or spend money to build up time to find the job? Well I waited and I finally got it.

Congrats!
I don't know if you got the double I yet, but I would make that the priority now. You will be more marketable as others have posted. After you get the II, then set about getting the MEI. Although it is nice to have the MEI, there are more opportunities as a CFI/CFII than there are MEI jobs.

Well I have been working on that since late last year. The problem is my instructor is the check instructor and he doesn't have time to teach me. But now he says he will find someone else to teach me. So here I go again, "just toss me around, and when the dryer stops I'll be nice and dry!"

But thanks man!
