Hey folks, I just finished my commercial and am starting my CFI now and I already have most of the books I need but I've been looking to get a set of CFI lesson plans to use as a starting point for my own plans and I wanted to know if anyone had some recommendation on which books I should buy, I've seen a few out there and was just wondering if there is a favorite. Thanks alot.

:yeahthat: I just spent the last 4 hours trying to create one lesson plan using Gleim's template, and any thing that would make this process easier/more efficient, would be a greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help!

I primarily used the gleim book for creating my lesson plans but also used this website http://flight.cartala.com/index.php ...more specifically for the maneuvers. I ended up creating and saving a template and started plugging and chugging from there...first few are going to be rough but you'll figure it out :insane:

I did a lot of my lesson plans using Gleim's "Flight Instructor Manevers" book.

wouldn't recommend copying this word for word or using it as your lesson plan, because you need to make it personal and the whole copyright thing but Scott Sasha is the man and has come up with basically everything you need on a lesson plan. If nothing else its a good place to start and see what one instructor's lessons look like

good luck

Thanks for the info. Im sure it will get easier after I have written a few. These first ones must be the hardest. Im just trying to get my brain into the teaching mode. I have to admit, doing these lesson plans really reenforces you own knowledge!

Follow the link on the left for private pilot course and the tab on that page for practical course. I didn't explicitly follow any particular method, it is just what works for me. Maybe you can use it though, good luck.

CFI PTS details what you need to teach (demonstrate instructional knowledge) for each area of operation. The private/commercial PTS states the standards they need to achieve.

Put the 2 together and you have the bulk of the lesson plan (lesson contents and performance standards).
