I'd like to get CFI insurance, but looking over the sample policy for AOPA's CFI insurance, it says that it only covers "non-commercial" use of the aircraft. In the policy definitions it states:
"Non-Commercial use means private pleasure and business use, excluding any use for hire, money or any form of reward or compensation. Being reimbursed for or sharing the direct expenses of a flight if the sum of these expenses does not result in a profit to you or anyone is not excluded."
So the way I read this, the AOPA CFI insurance only covers CFIs giving flight instruction for free, and in fact paying their pro-rata share of the expenses. This makes NO sense to me.
Any of you CFIs use AOPA? Anyone know of someone filing a claim and having problems?
Thanks!
