I'll likely be scheduling my CFI Initial practical for May or June, so I'm hitting the books now and working on polishing the maneuvers. Thought it my be helpful if folks wanted to toss out some oddball scenarios or questions they received that I should consider answers for as I prepare. Would appreciate any you guys want to post here - thanks!

My oral was 6 hours...(no that is not normal, but it was normal for the Dupage FSDO which had a 90% first time fail rate for CFI initials about 17 years ago)

I remember 2 questions vividly:

1. In 2 sentences, describe Turns-around-a-point?

2. How do you motivate or "cut-off" a student that isn't interested in the study portion of flight training?

Nice - I feel like I should be able to explain them all in two sentences so that's a great exercise.

What are some practical things you can do when you have a student with anxiety about things like stalls?

How might you know a student is ready to solo?

Older student with his own plane comes in for a Flight Review and makes it clear that he expects you guys to be done, in and out, in an hour for the oral and and hour for flight. How do you approach this?

nice questions as I'm doing my FIRC right now...

I soloed only 4 people, but my absolute hardline was what if you lost an engine on climb out....do you try a 180 turn and land or look for something else?
