ok, I know I am backwards and it was just an add-on but I still passed it!

oral was one hour consisting of next to nothing...

explain to me in detail a chandelle, lazy 8 and eights on pylon including common errors (didnt teach it, more or less just briefed it as an overview)

Tell me the airplanes Vr, Vx, Vy, Best glide, Short field approach speed

what is the planes max gross....did you do a weight and balance...are we going to fall out of the sky?

Flight..was kind of cool, being my 7th checkride I decided I would try something different and I just briefed the flight as a lesson and told him exactly what we would do and in what order and he said Great!

Took off and did a soft field, closed traffic to a soft field full stop taxi back
Short field takeoff, closed traffic to a go-around
right downwind departure towards practice area
did slowflight into power off stall then power on stall
Steep turn, chandelle
Lost an engine and descended to base and recovered
picked two points and pylon'd the 8's out of them
went back and ended with a short field landing

Flight was 1.2

His only critique was that I talked a little too much, he said a student will either forget or not listen to 3/4 of the stuff I tell them in the flight so I should choose my words wisely (i.e. procedures, speeds, etc) good point, well taken.

So for those keeping score...since October PAMEL, IR, CAMEL, CASEL, MEI, CFI and 4 of them were in the past 29 days

I really had hoped to finish my II on monday but the examiner just could not assure he would have the time to squeeze me in, especially since I fly out of SAN to BOS at 8pm that night.

Now to start my new job as a cfiski

I did the training at an FBO out of Mclellan Palomar Airport (KCRQ) in Carlsbad, CA...I flew 3-5 times per week after work from 5-7pm and then studied every spare chance that I had

Congrats! This may be just the boot in the behind I need to get in gear. If you can do all that, and do it at that pace, while woring full time; I have no excuse for going a year since my last checkride.

you can definately do it, it just takes self motivation and a strong work ethic, it is not necessarily easy, but anyone can do it.

Good luck...now get out there and get some training

I fly with Orion..but I started with grey eagle and flew with them for a few hours until they lost their 141 cert so I couldnt continue since in order to get VA benefits you have to train under 141.

I still fly at grey eagle every now and then though I flew their duchess twice last week and I am flying their citabria today. I talk to Jessie and Mike and Josh everytime I see them on the ramp. I have no problems with Grey eagle, great people

Just so I got it right.... You started with nothing in October, and got your Private Multi PPL - CFI/MEI? And the date now is April 2. AND... you did all of this on a part-time basis while holding down the fort in our beloved Corp?

Man, if I understand it correctly, you are THE man! Chesty is rolling over in his grave rah'ing at the top of his lungs. Outstanding my friend, outstanding!

close....but I am far from the man..

I started in Oct with my PSEL and 100 hours and the rest is history

But thank you anyway!

So if the student only remembers 3/4 of what you said wouldn't you want to say more rather than less??? If you said more wouldn't they remember more?? :D

I know what he meant and he's absolutley correct.
