Cessna Caravan Costs

Most of our Caravans are 88-92 models, and have 12-14000 hours on them. Our maintence dept takes good care of them. You could buy one for about 750K, but you would need a lot of work in the near future.

Oh man! For just a second I read your post like this...

"Most of our Caravans are 88-92 models, and I have 12-14000 hours on them."

Somehow I managed to see an "I" ... :cwm27:

I love Caravans too - but they are one expensive cookie to own.

From what I've observed in the world of aviation, a person almost always gets what they pay for. Of course some deals are better than others, but this general principle has served me well.

The secret to being happy with a purchase is to find the right deal for your individual situation. Everything is a trade off, so a person has to prioritize what is most important to them, then put their money in to a solution for those particular areas, while at the same time not putting money in to areas they have no use for.

This goes for purchasing aircraft, flight training, you name it.

:yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat:

And if they didn't pay, they would not get it, as well, and what is happyness anyways?
So in the meantime it is important to realize, and like my parents always said, be aware of things. But this goes like not for things like others, well, and a Airplane is for sure not easy to, but, you know after thinking about it, I think there is certainly an opportunity in almost anything!

A Caravan is a great investment. If it's a great airplane that is.
Wow, I wasn't aware of Cessna making 1.3/1.7 Mil deals to roll inventory.
Must be quite desperate times for them? You can still get a nice nonglass Van for less than a Million. But I would want to have a very exact plan on how much and when to use it. When these birds sit and collect dust, or end up being too much airplane for a private individual they are not so easy to move.

If you were crazy enough you can fly for 7ish hours w/o refueling..... try to hold that!!!!
Well I could manage that but I suppose I am blessed in the bladder department.

Now, if it were a trip of teenage girls I suppose we'd in trouble.

In any event, if it were my airplane the standard rule would be no droppin' deuces!

I love the Caravan. It is a great aircraft to ride in as a passenger. One time coming home for Christmas break I was stuck in the back with a car transmission, along with the aircraft being 75% full with mail. The departure out of Juneau was interesting to say the least.:D

Aside from being slow as hell, the van is a lot of fun to fly. I've only flown the 675shp van's, but even they feel very underpowered on hot heavy days. I'd love to see the van with the -42 or higher stuck on the front.

Would you really expect anything with that much drag to be fast? :D

Don't forget you can add Hellfire missiles to a VAN, like the Iraqi air force is doing right now.

Eh, I've been in stock Vans making departures out of 1600 foot muddy strips at MGTW. Juneau would be cake by comparison.
The takeoff was no problem. It was the climb through the mountains, and over the ice field before ending up over Lynn Canal.
