Cessna 337

That's crazy Dave, just ask am sure he'd take you on a tour

Yeah, I will the next time I'm in there. I'd offer to pay for some fuel, of course. I don't think he flies it much.

(derail) I've decided that airports in valleys are terrible things. SuperAWOS says, "Winds light, variable."

Then you get within 100 feet of the treetops and it's like you're flying in a blender. Saw a NUMBER of people go-around yesterday. As my CFII said yesterday, after saving my landing..."Yeah. Potomac will make you think you can't fly."

Wow hadn't thought much about the terrain around VKX. Will be fun if I ever do make it over.

Heh. Yeah. Go on out there on a gusty day with winds out of the NW and watch the near-death experiences. :)

(I'm exaggerating, of course. But it's a heck of a lot more challenging trying to land there than, say, 17R at AUS.)

I have about 700+ in the O2 and only one or two engine failures. I did, however, switch to the aux tanks at the same time once. In the most odd of circumstances, I was able to run both tanks dry at EXACTLY the same moment as I pulled of marking a target. Odd how quiet it can be when both quit.

I have approx 300 hrs in the O-2. Easy to fly, never experienced an engine failure. I remember the aft cowl flaps had a big impact on speed. We flew 4 ship formation most of the time where one acted as a FAC and the others as fighters. Never did any acro but manuvered them pretty aggressively past 90 degrees of bank. Usually carried two tubes of WP marking rockets and full aux tanks putting the SE service ceiling below the airport elevation on hot days. Converted to OA-37's because of that. Only had one accident when a young LT on his first unsupervised solo buzzed Tombstone, AZ and was decapitated after hitting a 37' power line.

I've got about 20 or 25 hours in a T337D... Really fun airplane with a lot of "get up and go". Fun for doing some multi-aerobatics in... From what I've heard anyway.
