I don't see the Virgin Group wanting to give up their name on the American airline they have. They have hundreds of companies that carry that branding, and having the Virgin name on a domestic airline in the United States seems like something with a high impact on their marketing. This is assuming that if JB/VA merged, it would carry the JetBlue name.

My understanding is that they pay Richard Branson a lot of money to use his brand... An expense that merger bean counters in New York City would be happy to shed in the effort to 'streamline'.

The fact they are now a publicly-traded company may have changed what I thought about about Virgin America's future of independence. I've followed them since Holly started working there, and Branson has dumped as much as he could to guarantee VA's success, but at a stake of 25%. His involvement seems to have really subsided now that I think about it. I don't remember seeing his face during their launch of Hawaii service.

It's owned by Virgin Australia, but whatever the Virgin brand (or Branson) wants, the rest would follow.

IMO for the time being I don't see a VX merger. But down the road I think it's inevitable.

Wait, I thought Branson had no control over VS. isn't that what ya'll said to get around the foreign ownership laws? So, it shouldn't matter what Branson wants. He doesn't get to decide what to call it. Or, were ya'll being decietful as to his actual input in how the company is run? :tinfoil:

For VX he owned 49% and controlling share 25%. Branson does control VS, that's a UK carrier right?
