Center Line of Thrust question

Got a question regarding center-line-of-thrust (CLOT): Is it "taboo" to have more multi-time in an aircraft that is CLOT than in a conventional twin come interview/hiring time down the road?

I ask because I'm currently flying a Skymaster for a doctor and his family and won't be getting much conventional twin time in the foreseeable future unless I'm approved to fly a Seneca III for another guy.... but, that's been slow coming.

While I understand that employers would probably like to see more conventional time.... would having more time in an aircraft that is CLOT be a bad thing necessarily??

In my opinion, if flying a Skymaster isn't "legitimate" multi time, then neither is 200 engine-failure-free hours in a 310 or something. It flies the same as a conventional twin with both engines operating. There's still two engines to manage plus its got the same systems as many other conventional twins (is it the pressurized model?). I don't see why it would be taboo.






Buuut, if you really don't want that 337 time on your resume, I know a burnt-out, down-on-his-luck pilot/CFI that is desperately looking for a flying job.

As far as I know, the only disadvantage of a Skymaster would be to do you multi ride in it... then you have to get rid of that CLOT limitation later on...

But as for legit multi time, it sure is... I'd Love a Skymaster gig!

(of course I have to get that multi first)

....Now if I could just hook up with an OV-10 gig.......

Good luck finding an OV-10, I don't think any are flyable unless you totally rebuild one. Might be a fun project though

I wouldn't mind flying an OV-10 or OV-3. heck, who am I kidding, I want to fly as much as possible and everything possible. Think Rutan will let be at the controls of Space ship one???

There's still a number of them flying, mainly with foreign air forces and with the US State Department Air Wing in central/south America.

In fact, I posted a job opening the USAF has for a unit flying OV-10s that I'm trying to get into........low luck so far since they want to get their mileage out of me for training me in my current airframe.

Yeah, in the US military there's very few. California Department of Forestry operates the most here, and the rest are overseas. Thailand just pulled their's out of service.
 
Yankee Air Museum at YIP lost an almost completely restored YOV-10A in a fire in October.

Either way - COOL-ASSED plane!

Every fly a Skymaster, Mike? FUN AS HELL!! Great low-level machine. Not much in the way of a climber though.

Got about 4 hours in an O-2. Fun as hell airplane.
