Question: What's the dope on cell phone expense reimbursement? Does your company give you a smart phone and plan? Does your company give you a flip phone? Does your company pay for your personal cell phone? Does your company pay a percentage of your personal cell phone charges? Or what? Trying to determine what's the industry norm... not that this industry is even close to normal.

Part 91, employer pays for phone and plan. When I flew 135 they said our salary included our phones, we had to pay for it out of that.
Lol, ok. Did your salary include pens, pencils and desk chairs too?

That operation that I speak of could be in Webster's under the word "cheap" or any of its synonyms. It is comical to me now that I am several years removed to think about it.

We provide the phone (currently an iPhone 6/6 Plus) and as close to an unlimited plan as possible. We also take care of any aviation/business related software expenses such as LogTen Pro.

Part 91. We get $140 a month cell phone reimbursement. I'd rather have it this way. We pick the phone and plans and don't have to deal with two phones or plans we don't want. In fact our whole company has gone to this model. Not sure how many get a cell phone reimbursement but the company has about 1,000 employees. We also get a mobile hotspot with unlimited data.

The old company provided Iphones. The current company contributes 40 bucks a month to cell expenses and additional funds to cover international expenses.

Part 91, our company supplies the phone (had to pay a small upgrade for iPhone) and the plan. I have no idea how many minutes/data I get but have never been fussed at for overage in 3+ years. I use it as my only phone, for business and personal usage, domestic and international.

Previous employer, Part 135, when I started in 07 they issued a flip phone, moved to smart phone (droid), have since moved to iPhones. They paid for the plan but I had a personal phone I used for non-company business, was persuaded to not use often internationally.

Last part 91 and current 91 department are company paid Verizon plans on the latest iPhone. No idea what the plan is, never been talked to about usage and I'm always on my phone. Current company also covers extras like case, screen protector, charger, etc... Basically anything and everything that is company or work related gets put on the company card.

My company (Part 135) gives us IPhones (5S). Thay pay for the bill. As long as we don't go crazy on the minutes, personal calls are OK. However, I also keep my personal phone. The company phone is administered so I can only install apps approved by the company. No big deal since I see the iPhone as a tool as it has our flight planning, weight & balance, APG, and scheduling apps as well as the company email. I can use my company email address to get a Verizon discount, but my personal phone is with AT&T.
