Cedar Key Redux

Howdy JC'ers,

Took another trip to Cedar Key, Florida! I love that place-- great flight, great views, nice walk to get food, and the food is also just as well.

We got annihilated on the climb out with a 50kt headwind, as you can see. ATC also had no idea we were filed to go to Cedar Key until we advised em'! First two controllers kept bringing us South... "You can get things straightened out with Miami Center when you get to them." -- Curious as to how a northwest flight would bring us all the way south, eh? At least ground clearance had our destination correct...heh.

Onto the photos and video, excuse all the sappy sunset ones! ;) I'm just going to include the video in this post this time, I feel less guilty making one thread on the same trip.

Our neighbor at CDK!

The wayyy back seat. Not as comfy as the middle row, but the view is incredible when you recline backwards at night.
Throw on a soft blanket and crank up the heat, and it's a nice ride. I skipped out on flying the return leg to enjoy the view in the back. :buck:

And onto the video of our arrival at CDK, Runway 23 (HD or Bust! Switch over on YouTube)

mmmhmmm, sure ya did

Cedar Key is neat. I took my girlfriend there two years ago on our first flying date in a piper warrior. You hit it right on the head, the walk is really cool and the food is great.

I used to take every private student I had there as one of their X-country's. They learned to respect a stabilized short field approach and landing real quick.

thanks for sharing. havent been there in a few months. its one of my favorite trips to do along with st. george island.

Nice!
you guys stay overnight?
We came in at 10-11 ish, could barely see the airport.

haha, did you get a free golf cart?

what an awesome airport!

We must have just missed each other, we left around 10pm. I would never consider CDK airport as a night arrival destination--unless I turned into a glider. How's that experience?

And no, they wanted to charge us $30 for a few hours for the golf cart. How did you go about getting a free one?

Nice pics and videos man! I just flew to Cedar Key today, its a awesome little airport.
