CDOs/Standups

The problem I saw with people doing them regularly was they’d do the crap CDOs with 4-5 hours rest, and that was it for them for 24 hours. They’d get home and go to another job or take the kids or whatever.

By about day 3 they were worthless.

SLEEP? I DON'T NEED MUCH SLEEP!! NEVER HAVE!. I'M GOOD!

They're not allowed at my company. But you can end up on one during irregular operations under certain circumstances and if you agree to it.

Some of us want them because "BrandX/Old Days/Whatever" but I'm glad we don't… And they probably wouldn't fly them anyway so some poor reserve gets stuck with it.
Who needs standups when you have red-eyes!

I would get the occasional Akron CDO back in my PSA days. I was okay with it because it would get me out of hot reserve at 0500.

Now I get to fly the rocket to SA out of Miami. Being a commuter I don't mind it so much.

The D's pilot contract forbids them in pre-month rotation construction, but Crew Scheduling is allowed to fashion them out of broken rotations and they frequently do on the narrow bodies. They go SUPER senior at STAIGHT PAY.

and lots of senior guys hunt them for violations (eg. not booking the earliest dhd back to base.) Get dropped with pay and then pick up the correctly built rotation 10 mins later to get 21 hours of pay to fly 1 hour.
