Cathay working on single pilot long haul

It's worth pointing out that there will still be at least two pilots onboard. They're getting rid of a relief pilot on longhauls as opposed to eliminating the second pilot entirely.

I'd be interested to hear their plan for preventing a GermanWings scenario. Sounds like Lufthansa has already shelved it, I suspect for that reason.

Without going into too much SSI, a whole lot of European carriers that switched to two people up front at all times, have already switched back.

Sometimes, this sounds amazing.

Me, a crew meal and whatever I brought to occupy myself In cruise. No feigning interest in your politics, that garage you’re building or how junior is awesome in soccer.. Ahh!

Seems to me it would be easier, and less expensive, to install lie-flat pilot seats on the flight deck.

May I present to you the new bizjet from Dassault:

Why do people think they have to talk?

Once had a trip with a captain who briefed me about how quiet he is on day one, told me not to be offended that’s just how he is.

We had ONE 20 minute conversation during a four day and it was the most relaxing work experience I’ve ever had.

Pilots are boring people. Boring people don’t have good stories.

You know who has good stories? Total screw ups. Good old fashioned degenerates. That’s who I want to talk to at the bar, not Frank The Pilot who won’t shut up about his mortgage.
