CASS-ing without a Passport

So...my passport is out getting additional pages and a China and India Visa. I am looking to try and CASS home Monday instead of waiting for my flight back on Tuesday night (flying on company metal). Has anyone successfully CASSd anywhere without a passport? In all the years I have been using this system, I have never been without my passport, so this is uncharted waters for me. Any help/insight is greatly appreciated! I am looking to get home on US or SWA.

I'm not sure about what SWA or US agents can see on their CASS system but some airlines cross reference you passport information from the CASS info. Delta's system prompts the agent to ask for passport info but it is just for positive identification so a drivers license works just fine.

generally when you don't have a passport you aren't able to sit in the cockpit. I did have a problem on DL once when I my passport was being renewed, the agent wouldn't even let me on the plane for some reason (about 30 open seats). It took a supervisors and a buddy pass to get me going.

A friend had a similar issue on SWA without a passport. But she got on eventually.

Delta requires a passport from OALs in order to sit up front. You can still sit in back if seats are available without one.

Not trying to hijack this thread,but....

This is all new to me and I had no idea about passports. So on these applications I've filled out, a few have asked....'Do you have a valid US Passport ?'

I have answered no because my passport is currently expired. Does anyone think that may sway their decision in candidates?

Again...sorry. The thread got me thinking.

I doubt it would be a no-go item - after all, it's always easy to renew a passport - but it wouldn't hurt to get a valid one either.

I had a buddy who got hired who had never had a passport. The only thing was that on his first day he had to hand in paperwork that showed he had submitted an application for a passport.

I have talked to the jumpseat coordinator for an airline and he told me that the requirement to have a passport to JS is not applicable anymore. Was that an airline policy or is that a nation wide/CASS policy change?

It was probably CASS policy, then incorporated into company policy to be consistent. Company policies don't usually change unless there is a financial reason to do so.
