Careers in aircraft sales

For airliners it ranges from 5% to under 0.5%.

Sooooooo...... if you SOMEHOW managed to sell a Airbus A380 with 5% commission at $295.6 million per plane..... you would have you $14.78 million in commission? :nana2:

Okay... only 1% would give you $3 million.. but sheesh.

But then again, how many people sell A380's?

What does it take to become and a/c broker...law wise? Any special licenses required? I've always thought selling corporate planes would be fun, but I probably couldn't even sell a lawnmower to a Mexican. With no sales experience, is it possible to get a job selling with a broker?

Out of curiosity.....what is the typical backround of an individual who can afford the purchase of a entry level single engine recip. Is she/he making some Gs or living on a credit card? Is the typical purchase usually lease back or a long term loan?

Thanks :)

Legally all you need is a tax id number, and fill out a form with the FAA. Of course if you want to have it be a corporation there is all that filing and fees to deal with.

If you think thats a hard sell....try selling deodorant to an Indian~ :sarcasm:

I was pretty close to an aircraft salesman of a major aircraft manufacturer. He works 7 days a week and travels constantly around the world. I don't care how much money he made, the amount of work he put in and how much dedication was required simply wouldn't be worth it to me.
