Thats great Zippin....hope youre relaxing. Can you give is an idea of your date to start again with ATP and where you will train? I'm sure many of us are anxious to see how the whole process unfolds for you.

It appears from your previous post that you enjoyed ATP training and got alot from it. Hope to hear more from you.

Zippity Doo Dah?

I was glued to this thread and was anticipating more. Kinda like a good novel.....but no sequel? Hope the Zipster is not Zonked out from the intensive training. Anyone else heard from him?

Dude, I just read this whole thing lookin for the next chapter. That is like torture. :mad: Bummer man. Hope Zippi is doing good and nothin happened to him. He seemed pretty involved in keeping this up??
 
I agree with Koen, I was into the private pilot blog that zippi had going. Hey ZIPPI, I sent you a PM, did you get it?

Geezz....I guess software engineering wasnt as bad as Zippi was talking on his first post. Perhaps the Zipster got his wings clipped. Ohhh well...it was great reading when it was fresh.....hope Zipski comes back to play again.

Zippy is doing well. I called Zippy last week and he informed me that he is doing well in Seattle. He continues to fly with ATP doing the self-paced program. I was one of Zippy's former private instructors at ATP in Jacksonville. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Victor. A shout out to those who do know me.

Hi everyone,

I am still kicking around here in Tacoma, WA. I know, I am waaay overdue for an update. I am still flying and everything is cool.

The reason I haven't posted in a while is because there have been some delays in my training for various reasons:

1. Simulator was broken for a while and UPS broke the replacement part.
2. Weather--biggest reason (we almost broke our record for number of consecutive days of rain in Seattle).
3. My one-year-old daughter is now approaching the two-year-old mark and you parents out there know what that means.
4. A company that I am part owner of required unexpected attention.
5. I am working part-time at least until seasonal WX improves
6. A lawsuit against the builder of my house for serious hidden defects has been taking a lot of my attention as well. It's going to be a class action with other of my neighbors. Cannot wait on this because there is a deadline.
7. Other misc. reasons.

So far, I got my ME rating back in September, other than a minor snag with learning to land in a different airplane, it was not difficult at all. It took only a couple weeks of basically doing the same stuff I already learned in a Cessna plus learning to fly with one engine out.

I am close to finishing my IFR rating. Expect to be done with that in early April. Then, it's all downhill from there because the rest is just addons. The IFR training, in my opinion is the toughest part of the training. But, it's all practice practice practice with a good amount of study.

Training at the farthest outpost of ATP is very different from being in Jacksonville. In the self-paced program you are lower priority so sometimes you have to wait for others to train or for parts. etc. I'm not complaining--it's just how it is. While we do try to adhere to some sort of schedule, it can change. But, it is nice to have a more relaxed pace. It has given me a lot of time to spend with the wife and daughter, especially since my daughter requires a lot more attention now (she really is daddy's little girl!). But, this way of training has not really lent itself to a regular daily blog.

I will let everyone know how the IFR checkride goes and how the rest wraps up. We should see better weather in Seattle as Winter winds down with more training activity on my part.

As far as the delays, in NO WAY does this imply any blame on ATP, so don't read it that way. ATP rocks, even in Tacoma. And, the scenery out here is as good as it gets with all of the mountains and ocean around here.

I have also been having fun flying right seat with a commercial pilot I know who does aerial photography. Nothing major, but it's free time and it will start to pay a little bit when I get my commercial. The jobs are out there!

By the way, I consider Victor to be the best instructor during my private training. I have no idea how I am going to fill your shoes when I get there. But, you can be sure I will be asking you lots of questions, Victor.

If anyone wants training in the Maryland area, Victor is definitely the guy to see.

Here in Tacoma, my current instructor in the Career Pilot Program, Geoff, is awesome too. He has the right balance of being tough when it counts and letting me have fun too.

I have to say that these two guys are top gun!

And, I KNOW that I am not the world's easiest student! :)

Paul, keep up the good work and in no time at all you will fill your own shoes. You can ask me any question you need answered. Keep us informed of how you are doing. BTW, Nathan is doing well and progressing in his instrument training as well.
