Career advice needed

I did the American Flyers CFI academy(KSMO). I'd recommend them but factor about $4500-$5000 for both tickets and don't forget that each checkride cost $1000...

Oh, and yeah wait to get married!!!:bounce:

If you are looking for a quality school to teach at, and to earn your instructor ratings, you can always start your search by looking at the AOPA Flight Training Award Winners. Check out where the majority of the Outstanding and Honor Roll CFI award winners teach at and the flight schools that consistently rank high on their poll.

Find out where they are located, determine where you want to go, then contact them and see what their training cost estimates would be. Realize that even the best schools are no guarantee that you will successfully complete your CFI initial check ride. The FAA is very strict and tough on this checkride due to the responsibility that goes along with the certificate.

Sleep on your research then make a reasonable decision that will fit in with your goals.

Thank you. I will for sure check this out. I would like to get the CFI done for the least amount possible but at the same time I want a quality education. I want to learn how to teach right and not just build hours. I do enjoy teaching. I contacted flight safety today and they did offered me the opportunity to get all my CFI ratings for free with a 2 year contract. Also for every dual hour I give they award me 1 point and I can redeem those at 1500, 2500 and 3000 points and turn it in for a type rating.

if you aren't dead set on becoming a CFI go for an aerial imagery gig man, the pay is good and you don't need your CFI, atleast that's how I did it and i'm 20. I thought it would be dang near impossible to land this gig let alone any gig. Toss app's out now if you really want to start making money that's what I did even with the million thanks but no thanks letters, this one finally bit.

I will for sure look into this. My concern is how many hours will I be able to work in the month. Even as a CFI if I dont fly I can still teach my students and make sure they learn the art of flying well.

CAE Global Academy is probably one of the best places to instruct as far as QOL is concerned. They do train domestic students now, though I have no idea how much it costs.

@bc2209 can answer questions about CAE from the student side a lot better than I can, but I instruct there and can help with questions about working at CAE in Mesa.

I don't have any advice on the CFI but don't pay for a CFI/II as a package. If you have the CFI, the II is (at least should be) a very minor add on that shouldn't cost more than a couple grand including checkride....at most.
Should be done under a grand. Very easy to add on. I did my CFII as the initial and got the CFI add on for maybe $500 excluding DPE fee

How would this work?
The CFII as the initial? It's pretty common nowadays, doesn't need a spin endorsement or a complex airplane. However, you can't instruct in an airplane until you add the CFI or MEI which requires the complex a/c and spin endorsement

I actually thought that was no longer allowed. I am talking out of my butt though, I just remember reading that somewhere.

I wouldn't be surprised if an FSDO or two took that same stance, they like to legislate from their desks.

But it is still allowed.

Thank you everyone for the great replies. I saw the offer from flight safety but I was wondering if any body works there that could shed some light. Also apparently Trans Pac would pay for your cfii.

I used to work there, and I have a few friends who still do. The standardization process can be tough. A friend of mine actually washed out not too long ago.

If you're looking at them hard, send me a PM.
