Carbon Cub flies to FL380

annoying that people get attention for records and dont put in the work to actually get it sanctioned
(not official dont care)

Gotta have roughly 20psi boost to the engine, it didn't specify turbo vs blower vs both
(pic shows manifold of 23.1 at FL350, at 350 the ambient pressure is around 3.5 psi, thus my assumption of 20 psi boost)

Would love to know the additional specs involved.

edit:
Baseline 916 IS has a turbocharger, so I'll assume that's what was used.

Inches for the MP?

I hear he is a Cal Poly professor, super cool thing to do tho I don't think I could tolerate those temps lol. -40F/C OAT in MSP I wear 2 layers of pants, winter coat+jacket+normal sweater+thermal shirt and gloves and even so I can't tolerate being out of a heated car taking photos for more than 10-15 minutes max. It is brutal, props to him for tolerating all that.

Not sure about the pilot’s credentials, but according to their press release the flight test lead is a Cal Poly professor.

I have no idea why someone would take a Cub into the flight levels but I like it. If you ask if it can be done and then go do it you've gotten your answer. If your ambition was either expanding the envelope or gathering accolades you did it and hopefully soon Carbon Cubs will be flying at 115kts at 22,000ft all over the country.
