I'm sure PT6s are reliable, and companies reliably fly the heck out of them; it wasn't that long ago we had a 208 land on a road west of town and last year another landed on a road out east a bit in Iowa.
 
I've heard a number of stories of PT6s pooping out at unfortunate times. I have yet to hear a story of a Garret giving up the ghost when it's "making deals with God" time. Granted, it's totally apocryphal, and the sample size on Garrets is necessarily smaller, but I think the "bulletproof" rep of PT6s is more marketing spin than reality. Plus, the darn thing is put in backwards. That just ain't right! :)

Had another friend that lost a Garrett on a KA B100 going into KASE.
