Captain_Bob (Bob Moyer)

This is why there isn’t a god. Bob wouldn’t like me to say that but how is that one of the most amazing people I have ever met gets taken from us, from his wife and 3 daughters, so early?
Like many, Bob is the reason I am a major airline pilot today. He was the best mentor anyone could ever have. We met here and on a forum ATP flight school ran for “Career Coaches”. I didn’t even go to ATP but he still answered my many questions. He had the great misfortune of standing in front of me waiting to board plane one day back when I was just a business traveler. I recognized his name on his flight bag and asked “Aren’t you ExpressJet Bob?”(His career coach name). We had to sit apart on the flight but afterwards, instead of running home after a 4 day trip, and even at my urging, he stayed at the airport for over an hour chatting with me about career paths. Later that month, he met my wife and I for dinner to answer both our questions and prepare us for my career change. Bob even helped me get a CFI job at ATP even though I had done no training with them.
We became great friends. Flying together. We attended NJC several times together.
I just cannot believe such a beacon for good is gone:((((

Only knew "of him" like so many of you, but what I knew "of him" was exceptional. Sorry to everyone here for our collective loss.

Absolutely did not quit. When things got tough, he was super positive and pressed on. When things got good, he shared it and motivated people.

He was always a guy who I thought “Man, I should be a lot nicer to people” so he just made things… better.

And that’s a rare gift.

WoW.....He was OG JetCareers. I remember watching his career from afar. Always a smile on his face. Watching his success and the sharing of it with others is a rare trait that few have. Thoughts to his family and friends that knew him well.....

One of the nicest guys you’d ever meet. I knew him when we were both DFW based at XJT and got to visit with him again when he came to atlas. A friend of mine called to give me the news last night, it’s terrible to hear. Tailwinds, Bob

I met him once back in 2007 when he took a few of us XJT new hires to dinner. We were young, brand new to 121 ops, and burnt out from studying. He offered camaraderie and friendly advice (some of which I remember to this day), to a group of guys he had only known from this website.

He certainly took mentorship seriously - something perhaps we could all strive to emulate in his honor.

Tail winds Captain Bob.

Well said.

He was a terrific human and a joy to fly with! Praying for peace and comfort for his family.

Bob was, without question, what we all should strive to be. If any of us were half the person he was, the world would be a better place. He helped me get my first CFI job and my first airline interview. I saw him recently and was fortunate enough to remain in contact with him through his first days and year at AA. I’m heartbroken. He was the best of us. This community and our community at AA and APA are a lesser place in his absence.

What a loss. Bob was a XJT CA when I was getting my ratings, and volunteered to be my MEI on his days off. He didn't charge me a dime and said to pay it forward. He was also instrumental in getting me an interview at XJT and he wrote me a great LOR.

Over a decade layer, I was honored when he reached out and asked me for a letter of rec at my employer after his career path took a few turns.

Bob had just recently been assigned the DFW base, where he could walk to the airport if he had to.

Such a nice man. A genuinely beautiful soul. You will be missed, Capt Bob Moyer.

FF

Guy sounds like a legend.

Tailwinds, Bob.
