Canyon Twin Otter Flying.

Thanks for all the responses! Yes that is snow. It snows quite a bit up there in the winter. The elevation at the North rim is almost 9,000 ft. Airport elevation at the South rim is 6,600 ft. Good for snow in the winter, and 10,000+ ft. density altitude during the summer.

We are all one company now, Scenic Airlines and Grand Canyon Airlines. I was a Scenic guy, but now we can fly GCA planes, but still using our procedures. As for hiring, if we do hire this year, it will be sometime in the Spring. The last group of new hires had wet commercials, but now I'm not really sure what our mins are. A wild guess would be somewhere around 600/50, IF we even hire this year.

i've heard pilots have had to take a major pay cut in the past year. is the pay still enough to live on?

and do you know where guys/gals have gone with all that twotter time? anyone moving on to fractional after a stint in the canyon? i have about 1650TT and 500ME, but need to rack up some turbine time.

great pics, thanks for sharing!

They paycut is supposed only supposed to be temporary, but as an FO, no, it is not enough to live on. There are a few cases of people moving up to Southwest, but it is rare. Fractionals and Corporate seem to be a different story. We have quite a few pilots now that were FO's here, got Corporate jobs, and now they fly part time as Captains for extra money in their spare time.

I wouldn't expect to go straight to the Majors from here, but you can check off the 1000TPIC box at least.

Thanks for the info! I'm not looking to go the airline route at all, so just enough TPIC time to get on with a fractional is what I'm looking at next. I'm just not sure how they view time in the Twotter.

You said FO pay isn't enough to live on .. is that just after the paycut? Was it livable before the paycut? And how long to upgrade? Is there a set number of hours TT or as FO you need to have to get the left seat?

Thanks again.

I should have been more specific I guess heh. I guess it depends on what you consider "livable". Our normal guarantee is around $1300 a month after taxes. During the summer you can make around $2000 a month if you fly alot. You will be fine if you have a sugar mama. Last year when we were hiring street captains the requirement they wanted to see was quite a bit of multi time, and an ATP. A few of the lower time street captain guys they had sit in the right seat for a few months before moving over to the left. Upgrade time the past couple years was as soon as had your ATP. Now, not so much with all the slowdown. We have had pretty much zero attrition the past year and a half.

I love the Twotter!! I fly a water Twotter to the islands. Love it...Great pics....:rawk:
