Can't wait to torture the students with this...

looks like something you would see in Mexico. Seems almost every approach has a DME arc. i wish i could do THIS one though!

I must be missing it here, but I would much rather just get vectors to final then mess around with an arc.

I have just never liked them, they always seem to be more work than necessary to get somewhere.

Someone show me the way of the arc.

* Unless of course I can just put in the FMS and fly it that way :)

Talking with the other instructors about this one. What is the parameters for discontinuing an arc approach like this? None of us knew and couldn't find it published anywhere. I know the instrument PTS is +- 1nm but that seems a bit excessive in an approach environment.

On this one, you can't really "vector to final" because there really isn't a "final" per se. It's an arc all the way to the ground (or the missed approach point actually), and it's the only one of these in the WORLD as far as I know. (Of course "as far as I know" is a HUGE caveate!)

I suppose you could vector to somewhere on the arc, maybe, but this is certainly a unique approach.

Look at the approach, the final approach course IS the DME arc!

Pretty straightforward if you're established on V268 already.

But assume today you're not and hear, "Cessna 123, upon reaching SLOAF, cleared for the VOR/DME RWY 15 approach to Martin State." Anyone want to walk us through that one? ;)
