Can't Upload a Photo and Other Hijinx

Hi Doug or Other Mod,

On more than one occasion in the past several months when trying to upload a picture, I get this message:

ACTIVATE TAPATALK
Sorry, you have not set up an email account to activate Tapatalk. Please click "Change Email" below to set one up. I click the link which requires me to login.

After trying a bunch of passwords, I clicked the Forgot Password link and checked my email for the new password. I didn't get a new password. Instead, I get an imbedded link I'm instructed to click to reset my password. I clicked the imbedded link and get a message, (paraphrased) that I'm unable to get a password update because my user ID isn't recognized.

Remembering your dissatisfaction with Tapatalk, I try to login on an IE browser. Try to reset password in there, click in the email and on the imbedded link and get the same deal. After doing this a few times, I finally get a new password in the email instead of the imbedded link, and I'm able to log back on to JC, but when I try to upload a photo (by clicking on the camera icon), I get the original message about not having an email set up in Tapatalk.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific recreating the events and error messages. I don't want to go through the process again and risk getting locked out again.

I went back to IE and tried to post screen shots of my email message by opening a thread in here. I clicked the photo icon but can't figure out how to get to my photos and select and upload it.

Any suggestions are appreciated. I've already had to create a new account this year because I got into a loop where I couldn't login because I couldn't reset my password. I'm trying not to take it personally. Lol.
 
You're trying to upload a photo in tapatalk? you're logged into your username when using Tapatalk?

Have you tried forumrunner?

Are you using IE on a computer or on a tablet/smartphone? Have you tried using Chrome or any other browser?
 
I'm on my iPhone. Sorry, my mistake! I guess that's Safari, not IE. I currently don't have a computer at home. (Can't justify the expense when I can do anything I need on the phone, albeit very slowly!)

Yes, I'm logged onto my username in Tapatalk. I open a reply and click the camera icon and get the message I quoted above. I can post replies with no problem but just can't include a photo.

Due to a glitch after an iPhone update (7 I think) I can't login to iTunes to download even free apps. Long story, but the fix requires a real computer which I don't have. So I can't download forumrunner or use Chrome.

Sounds like a Tapatalk issue and we all know how much I can't stand Tapatalk. The forum is fully "responsive" in able to use with any standard mobile browser.
 
Did you upgrade to Tapatalk ID? That's what it asked me to do when I attempted to use the photo for the first time.

Also, are you updated to iOS 8? it might have something to do with the iOS and Tapatalk working together.

you should be able to download apps directly from your app store on the iPhone.
 
Thanks you two! I'm on iOS 8 but haven't updated to 8.0.2 yet. Apple has become the new Microsoft. Sigh!
 
Sorry, the Paypal glitch affects my ability to download anything from iTunes and the app store. Don't spend time on this if it's not happening to anyone else. I'll find a way to fix the Paypal glitch and use the site on a more stable app or browser.

I love this site! Thank you for the work you do to keep it running. I kind of panicked during the time I was unable to log in and had no way of connecting to it!
 
No problem.

What paypal glitch? Maybe if you delete the paypal app and just use paypal through your browser, that will remove the glitch?
 
I have a paypal account attached to iTunes and after one of the OS updates, I was no longer able to buy or download apps, even free ones.

According to iTunes helpdesk, The only way to delete the paypal connection from my iTunes account is to log on to iTunes, and it has to be done on a computer, not on an iPhone. It hasn't been a big inconvenience until recently. I need to just bite the bullet and hit up my brother to log on to my iTunes acct on his desktop and delete the paypal account connection to my iTunes account.
