Can't Make Head or Tails of the TSA Rules.

Re: Can\'t Make Head or Tails of the TSA Rules.

So far no one knows what to do. My German student was (thankfully) granfathered in to not having to submit his application. He now has his PPL and is on his way back to Germany. I was confronted with a student who is beginning his commercial training as to what to do about the rule, and I had to respond with an honest "I don't know".

Yup, and they'll probably fry the careers of a couple of good CFI's to make themselves look good too. CFI's have almost no capability to defend themselves, so they're easy prey for this propped-up department.

What, NAFI doesn't have a legal team?

Yes yes yes.

I was almost a vicitim of "Son, your signoff's on the 8710 form didn't have "ATP-quality" english".

"Sir, well, they could read, speak and understand the English language!"

"Yes, but could they understand a non-standard ATC command and react correctly the first time?"

"Geez, I can't even do that with any reliabilty!"

"Well, you're in violation of FAR XYZ123 but..."

Trust me. The FAA is very selective in how they interpret/enforce certain FARs.

Don't tangle with the Feds, you're going to lose. Primarily why I tell people not to get involved with 'questionable' time building schemes.

Words I will always remeber.

I'm sure they will save me a lot of time and grief someday.

I hope the whole saftey-pilot thing dosen't fall into the questionable time-building scheme category--- I went to ATP!!!
