I never worked adjacent to any Canadian facilities, but we did get a lot of Canadian pilots when I was in west central Florida. One Air Canada pilot in particular would end EVERY transmission with "Alfa." For example, he would check in saying, "Air Canada 111 with you descending to fourteen thousand with information foxtrot... alfa." Or, (if they wanted an opposite direction landing), " Air Canada 111 requesting runway 18L, alfa."
I asked why and he said, "We use the phonetic alphabet, and "Alfa" is phonetic for "eh."
