Can you take 7.5 G's with the Blue Angels?? :)

Its like a dream of mine to ride with them at least one time in my life! They are so cool.

There was another video of a different guy passing out, it was so funny.

There are a couple of them! One is a news anchor who pointed out an airport and thought he was a hotshot cause he was a private pilot.

I think he blacked out at 4 G's or something!

It'd be so much fun! 'Cadet of the Month' gets to go for a back seat f-16 ride with the reserves up at carswell. ;) wish me luck

Funny to watch him passout... Don't know what it would be like if I were in his seat. :)

Bob

The pilot is cheating.....with a g-suit.

At least I think the blue angels fly with them. This was funny to watch though. He was out cold! I've had a few of my students pass out before in the 8KCAB. Really easy to do, just pull and keep pulling :D

Great movie! The Blue Angeles don't wear g-suits during their performances. The inflating and deflating of the suit would screw with the precision of holding the stick. They talked about it on that show where they followed the team for a season on Discovery I think. I pulled 8gs in an L-39, with g-suit, and only for a couple secondes, and it was tough. My hats off to all those guys for being able to pull those numbers without a g-suit. I can't tell if that guy in the backseat is wearing a g-suit or not.

Are you serious!? They don't wear suits?! That's incredible

Even cooler that he can just calmly call out "yeeeeup there's 7 g's.....anddd there's 7.5.... aiiighhhht that'll do"

1000 pounds in his lap.

At least this dude was able to snap out of it. All the others have blacked out and didnt get back to it.

I've seen a few of those Blue Angels videos and the only one I've seen where the pax doesn't pass out is this older woman. She was having a blast. I remember it making me feel like a p@##y casue i KNOW I'd either pass out or hurl. Maybe even a little of both.

Did a ride in some F-15's a while back, as kind of an exchange thing. I was a tanker guy at the time, and the fighter guy I was working with offered me a ride. We went up and did 3 sorties of 1 vs. 1 BFM (basic fighter maneuvering, aka dogfights) and pulled a whole lot of 8.5 g turns whenever we were defensive. Basically about 30 seconds per pull.

Basically the g-suit gives you about a 1g advantage over what you would have normally, but the real advantage of it is that it reminds you to SQUEEZE your legs and butt muscles. It helps, but the real help is to remind you to perform your anti-G strain manuever (AGSM)

The other thing to remember is that your body gets acclimated to the g's. When I first got back into the T-37 as an instructor, I had to start my AGSM at about 3-4 g's, and now I start straining around 5g's on most days. That's without a G-suit.

In my years of envying USAF pilots I have seen many a disc/hist channel episodes about them. Flex those legs/butt/abs! Squeeze the blood up in that noggin!

If any of you DARE (pffffft) to ride the TITAN at 6flags (4nm N of gky) Do the "AGSM" during the helixes (helixi?) and you wont feel the blacking out feeling anymore! Goes to show how sissy we civilians are!

Not for long, hopefully, in my case!

The best fighter pilots are short stocky women due to the location of their heart in their chest. From what I read, this makes their blood flow better than a man's thus keeping them from passing out and drooling over themselves.

I think in the past decade or so the air force discovered this and the recruitment for women fighter pilots has gone up big time. I know when I was AFROTC we set a record for the most women getting pilot slots and I think they were breaking that record nearly every year.

I personally haven't seen that many women in USAF pilot training choose fighters. While they may be physiologically well suited to the fighter, many of them don't like the idea of flying fighters. I've only been teaching at UPT for about 6 months, but in the last four classes at Columbus, I don't think any women have tracked to fighters. (Of course, there's only been something like 6-8 women out of about 80 total students).

G-tolerance isn't the only factor...

It's no joke that if your out of the jet for even a few days let alone a week or two you feel a loss in your G tolerance. I am about to start flying the t-2 Buckeye and haven't flown a high G aircraft in about 6 months. It could be a fun first couple of flights. :insane:

Just to tag on to a couple of other posts,
The Blues don't wear G-suits. With proper training and good physical fitness, most anyone can build up to 7-8 g's without a g-suit, and as previously stated, the g-suit only gives you about one extra g of tolerance.
And, as far as women being able to tolerate g's more, True, but that doesn't mean there are a ton of women fighter pilots and Nav's. Still a heavily male dominated world. My squadron has about 20/100 or so student women to men.

Ha, i was a six flags (in so cal) yesterday. It was empty so i sat on one of the rides for 8 consecutive rides. OMG. i blacked out on the 8th go round. It was worth it though. :nana2: :nana2: :nana2:

I think you might be talking about Jan Brett. I've posted her video on here before, but here's the link again.

Not only is she an older woman (your words not mine ;)), she's a children's book illustrator for chrissakes! :D And, she took 7Gs without passing out. Unlike other VIPs in these kinds of videos, she looks like she paid attention to the pre-flight brief about tolerating Gs.
