Can someone suggests a Roller

I need to buy my first roller suitcase for deadheading and traveling at a Regional. I will mostly be flying on CRJ's and turbo props.

I would like something that will fit in the CRJ overhead, could hold my laptop and has a hook on the top for my flight bag.

Company policy is 22" X 14"

I have been looking at EBags. Everyone seems to like them, except for the fact that a few of them are top heavy and fall over. http://www.ebags.com/ebags/professional_22_expandable_upright/product_detail/index.cfm?ModelID=81622

Thanks

I've never had an EBag, but I swear by my Purdy Neat bag. I bought the $100 special at Costco that everyone else seemed to like, but two weeks into it, one of the wheels locked up. In retrospect, I wish I had used that $100 to go towards the Purdy Neat.

I would also say get the Purdy Neat. So far mine has held up extremely well given how I treat it, the thing is built like a tank.

why didn't you switch it at costco for a new one? that's the whole point of that bag!

My purdy neat is pushing ten years old and has only lost a zipper. Which they'd probably fix if I wasn't too lazy to send it

Dad got a Purdy Neat eons ago. The bottom plate wore out, so he got a travelpro. Well the travel pro busted its havdle and a wheel broke. He's back to the Purdy Neat.

if you are commuting on an RJ they will make you gate check the bag. The Purdy neats design makes the rampers be nice to it too. (I should know, I hated them) I think there is still a blood stain in a Pinnacle bin when one fell on my head.

You get what you pay for.

Purdy Neat. . .I want one, badly. But in due time. . .so that yes, I can inflict pain against myself and others. The bag is a demon I tell you.

I will go with the Purdy Neat, since everyone says it is worth the extra cash $.

So does it even matter that it will fit on a CRJ overhead if they make you gate check it anyway? I guess that means, I just need something that will fit on the overhead of a 737, 320 or MD90, etc. In that case I can get the 22" model and have a little more room.

If you get the PNS 737 Stealth (second link I posted) it will fit in the overhead of an RJ (I put mine there for the 1.5 years when I was flying one {it will also fit in the cabinet in the front of the 200}) and it will fit in any EMB-120 bin (yes, the small ones too provided that you do not over-stuff the bag {I'm a CA on the 120 now and can attest to where my bag will fit})

PURDY NEAT! Period. Pay it now or pay it later?

Or just get the Costco bag like I did and pay $100 once and never pay again! (free replacements of a broken bag, no questions asked... take advantage of Costco's liberal return policy!) I met a captain the other day who had the Costco bag and said he hasn't bought a bag for 10 years... he just saves the receipt and replaces it.

Exactly. There's a front pocket small enough to keep the receipt in there.

/That's what I do oneoneoneoneone

How much does that costco membership cost? I wouldn't want to have to maintain a 50 dollar a year membership to replace a cheap bag...

Find one you like... PNT's will last. Supposedly so will travel pro... never had much luck with the discount bags

COSTCO!!! For the simply reason that you don't have enought money for anything more than what this bag costs.

Some points of clarification.
-You DO NOT need to stay as a member, or ever have been a member.
-You DO NOT even need a receipt (everything on the bag says kirkland)
-You don't even need to buy it yourself, just throw your buddy with a membership $110 and tell him to get the black kirkland 20inch something suitcase.

Strongbags.

Love the bag, love the customer service/support even more.

Also, the reason you want it to fit in a -200 overhead bin is if you're gonna be flying a -200. Don't wanna gate check your own back and worry about it making it back on the plane every turn, do you? I would always gate check it when jumpseating, etc. but would always throw it in the overhead when I was working that flight.

I have heard good things about strong bags. I will probably get that one as my next bag. As for now my travelpro is holding up just fine. It looks like Arse, because it barely fits in the CRJ overhead. But it still works, so no need to spend the money on a new bag right now
