can any one tell me about dca now?

Thanks for your input. The DCA apologist jumps on me for expressing my anti-DCA opinion though I've never set foot in the place. Like I should keep quiet though I've read posts like yours for the last six years at various sites.

In the end, many who have gone there say they wouldn't do it over. No reason to keep that a secret.

I agree, in todays hiring enviornment, the guaranteed interview is completely worthless. Now, if they only could only get that Comair seniority list thing through, they would have a new carrot...

Funny you should mention that. Did you know there's still some fliers around campus promoting that "agreement?" It rather annoys me.

I've heard some lovely rumors about other "deals" in the works, but far be it from me to spread rumors. This being aviation, nothing is true until you're pre-flighting it...

Eh, I get annoyed with many anti- and pro- DCA posters, as well. There's a lot of bad in the place, but there is also some good. You must meet the PTS to earn your ratings and a lot of people get to that level, at least, in their time at DCA.

Having been there, it bothers me when people don't keep in mind that DCA is an extant place. Spewing pure kool-aid or vitriol does no one any good. Fabio--and potentially some others--are good about reading forums like this. If they don't get an accurate and fair assessment of the program's shortcomings, they won't know what needs improvement. I don't believe the Academy tries to make people bitter and miserable; it's just often the result of the way things are done there.

Similarly, it doesn't help prospective students to get a hyperbolic rant about the place. DCA is a legitimate option for flight training and--especially if someone is dead-set on not going the FBO route--people need to know what they're getting into. Compared to its peers (e.g. Ari Ben, ATP, Falcon, etc.), DCA is not without merit. I, for example, am not comfortable with ATP's 90-day program--it's just not enough time to truly absorb all the material you're learning.

Then again, I suppose I'm being woefully long-winded and redundant in my attempt to say, "Keep it civil. Keep it professional."

Well, yeah, we can agree on that point....

Does anyone know why DCA broke off their contract with Bridgewater State College? Who does the flight training now for the aviation students?

Not sure why, but I know at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio DCA is leaving in Febuary.
According to the Dean there, they wanted to raise thier rates to Astronomical levels, Sinclair said thanks, but its' time to go our seperate ways.
As told to me by a buddy of mine still enrolled there.
