My friend wants use one from IAD to China & back but I can't go. I know at US airways they needed to be traveling with the employee and that's why I ask. Thanks.

Unless UA has an embargo that says you must be there to accompany the companion, your friend is OK to fly without you. The only stipulation is the companion cannot sit in first class on a 3 class cabin.
I have had family fly over from England on buddy passes without me.

At Colgan, we are not allowed on the Skynet link of the employee website. We can only list and check loads. To even know the cost of a buddy pass we have to call up and ask. Thank you though.

Hmmmm, me thinks there is a break-down somewhere. Seeing as how dingo is also a Colganite.
I haven't signed up for the UAL bennies yet.....although, it sounds as if most of the issues have been worked out, perhaps it's time for me to venture down that road as well.

go to any IAD or outstation desk and ask to use skynet. you can use any of the computers at any of the A gates and it will show you the prices, taxes, embargoes etc. pm me if you are at iad and what to know how!
there are no embargoes for china right now. only HGK and BKK in asia right now.

I totally forgot EWR crews get UAL bennies now also. Yeah, skynet may not be possible for you. Hit me with a pm and I can check anything on Skynet for you including pricing. As far as embargoes go this summer, HKG has one from July 15-Aug 31. BKK is indefinate right now. I think Sydney is also July 15-Aug 31. The rest of the embargoes apply to Europe. I'm horrible with COAir, maybe we can trade off some info!
