If you're looking for both fast and cheao, then probably film is your best bet. Digital camera on the lower end of the spectrum usually have a lag of as much as a second between when you push the shutter button and when it actually takes the picture. Same with the zoom lens. Most lower level digital camera use a motor that you control, and they're not known for being fast.
As far as reccomendations, any Cannon Rebel will do the job. The later models have a lot of bells and whistles, and the earlier models are dang near bullet-proof. Also, the interchangable lens ability is great when you want a telephoto lens for your airplane shots, and then something a tad wider for your family pictures.
And if you're willing to spend the money, the Digital Rebel is a great camera as well, but definately not as good as my 10D.
