Just a quick question...Does anybody know if a camelbak or similar bladder is allowed through security if it's empty?

I don't see why not as long as you can show that it is empty when they search it. Knowing how they are, they will probably just think it is a small backpack.

What kind/size do you have? I'm thinking of getting a hiking daypack to use for my new job, one with a compartment for a bladder. I'm thinking it'll probably be a 2L. But I don't want to spend the money on a good quality hydration system if it's just going to get confiscated on my first flight.
