Callsign Starfish

Flying into and out of BNA, I've heard the call sign "Air Bear". At first, I thought it was Care Bear which would have been hilarious. Anyway, it turns out that it's the Metro Police helicopter. The tower give them clearance to land or takeoff from the "bear's den" too, which I found hilarious. The guy I was flying with was in his 20's and didn't get the while bear thing and police. I tried to explain it and he was confused. Oh well. I thought it was funny!

Since I always operate at the same airport the guys at the tower would probably know it was me and I wouldn't get in too much trouble. I hope.

After hearing stories from a sailing ship captain who had a family member transmitting in an inappropriate way on a live aboard sail boat, I won't be messing about on the radio. The FAA has been reasonable so far but this man's tale of the FCC was surreal.

That's actually the Tennessee Highway Patrols callsign. Their hangar(the bears den) is just across the street from BNA. I used to fly for Metro Nashville police, we used Metro 1...which is not nearly as cool haha!!
