Calling all airline pilots who use iPhones

I've been working on a new project for the past 4 months. It's called www.seatpods.com As I first learned from jetcareers in my up and coming years, you can't rely on aviation as your sole source of income. With the addition of this, I now have 5 sources.(I still don't feel safe in case your wondering).

Anyhoo, I need the help of some of you. Originally, what I was going to try to do, besides advertise to the general public, was try to get the aviation communities business. How? I was thinking of making 8 1/2 x 11 color print out ads and placing them in crew lounges of pilots, rampers, and flight attendants. Well as you can imagine, that would be nearly impossible logistically, not to mention not having the legal access to these places. So when talking with a couple of fellow JC'ers, and offering them a free one, they offered to post my ad in their crew lounges. The light went on! So if anyone is interested in one of these, I would be happy to send you one for free! In return, I would ask that you place one of the ads in your lounge. There is the potential for it to be taken down, as some ads must be approved by mgmt, so if you know to be the case, I ask that you do the right thing and let me know.

At our company, anyone can pretty much place an ad anywhere. If this seems like a fair trade, send me a PM with your name, address, what airline you work for, and what bases you can place the ad in. If you have any questions, give me a buzz.

So far, I have:

Alaska Airlines(thanks Chris, PM me your address, I just got two pieces from the manufacturer today so I can now send you one)

I have quite a few friends at Delta(but since your all my friends, I can't send just one, so Doug and Kristie, I have your addresses, it will go out tomorrow in the mail, George, send me yours again, its been a while)

I've got Southwest Airlines covered.

Also United Airlines too.

HI I'M BILLY MAYS AND I'M HERE TO TELL YOU ABOUT A GREAT NEW PRODUCT...

You should get ahold of those guys, see if they'll pitch it for you on an infomercial.

Might even see it on an episode of Pitchmen! :D

From what I have seen on the show, it doesn't seem to have the wide audience that they look for.

Sure many people have ipods, but how many that have them travel....

Cant hurt to try though.

Worst thing they can say is "no".

billy mays is the past, you need the shamwow/slapchop guy.

You should start an affilliate marketing program. Each customer can register their info on your website and be given a unique affilliate ID. At this point you can get demographic information as well as their email address for future product campaigns.

Once they subscribe to the affilliate program, they get sent a link with their uniqe I'd attached. Everytime they run into another crew member or someone seated next to them they can just email a link from their iPhone to the interested party. If the person clicks the link and purchases the affilliate can get 10% plus an additonal 5% gift certificate.

That sounds great but your talking about thousands in programing fees. I am working on a wholesale section on the website as well as a referral program.

mrivc211......I've tried to reply to your PM but was unable....is your inbox full?

Regardless, I'd be happy to help you out....you have my info.

mrivc211, I've also tried to PM you, but no luck. If you need help just let me know!

Good Luck, looks like a cool product.

I like your product!

Some thoughts about your website, though:

- When I went to the page it took me too long to figure out what the product was. The first thing you see are the news reports and a youtube video. The youtube pic is grainy. The first time I read a description of what your product is is below the youtube and I have to scroll to get there. The font is smaller than the news articles and the copy doesn't really describe what your product is.

Suggestion: Lose the news on the side, move the youtube vid elsewhere. The first thing I should see on the main page is a high resolution picture of the product and some concise, easy to read copy that accurately describes the product. Here's an example of a one product website. Notice the picture dominates. The copy asks a question (pain point) and answers it by very concisely describing the product.

- The gallery section, well, isn't a gallery. :) I don't think this section is needed anyway.

- Benefits page: Font too small! And instead of concentrating on features and benefits I recommend focusing on pain and solutions. (Like the section under the benefits - the before and after section is really good I think. It really shows me what a hassle it is to NOT use your product.)

- Contact us page: If you can swing it I'd suggest looking into a virtual office. For a relatively small fee you can appear to have an actual addrss which makes you look more credible. They also usually provide a phone service, which brings me to my next point - you need a phone number. Most people would be hesitant to send money over the internet to a business with just a PO Box and no phone number.

- You need an "About" page. Just a little blurb about who you are and why you exist. This again aids to your credibility and makes the consumer feel better about their purchase.

- I really like the product name and your logo. Looks very professional.

I know this is WAY off topic from your original question, but I hope this helps. Best of luck in your venture!
