Cal Worthington F4s

Wow, that's great!

Is that the old March unit?

Hehe, now I have the Pete Ellis jingle in my head, too.

Pete Ellis Dodge, Long Beach Freeway Firestone Exit South Gate!

Pretty funny but they need the theme song! That Cal Worthington song resides along with the Carpeteria ads in my brain's permanent ROM. I might not be able to remember my wife's birthday, but....if you wanna car or truck go see cal.

the real Cal was no joke. He used to fly his own Lear, either 25/35 or both over the years. Here's a snippet from his wiki.

"At the beginning of World War II, Worthington enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Commissioned a Second Lieutenant, he was the aerobatics champion at Goodfellow Field in San Angelo, Texas. He saw combat as a B-17 Flying Fortress pilot with the 390th Bomber Group, flying 29 missions over Germany. He was discharged after the war as a captain. Worthington was awarded the Air Medal five times, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, which was presented to him by General Jimmy Doolittle."

!

No, it's the Terre Haute, Indiana. They, Fort Wayne, and St Louis ANG were the last of the E model fighter units in the ANG, with Idaho being the last of the fighter F-4s at all in the ANG.

That is the single greatest youtube video I have ever seen.

"He might be a Continental scab, but this is still a great buy!"

Heres a little back story at 1:50 in the video where he says Boom Chicago, Back in about 1988ish 2 F4s from the TTH guard were working the R6903 one or both pilots were airline pilots and they had a flight later that day and relised that they may be late getting back to TTH for their airline job. They left the R6903 and were in the JOT HI sector at FL280 just north of Chicago on the shore line when the flight lead ask the controller if he could increase his speed ( the controller was an old timer named Leon Mayes and he was a good old guy every one liked) so he tells him speed his discretion. Well the flight lead took that as permission to go super sonic which he did right over the down town Chi Town breaking a sheet load of windows and scaring the crap out over the city folk who thought the Russkies were bombing them. Well that started a little crap storm at ZAU and they tryed to blame old Leon for this which was wrong and the pilots knew this.I know cause i was working that shift when it happend and poor Leon got the nick name Leon "BOOM BOOM" Mayes for his trouble.
