CAE Simuflite

Retired in SAN

Time to return to the saddle..
Hi, heading down to Dallas to Simuflite for the first time and am curious what the attire should be. I'm good in a tie or flip flops. Just wanted to get an idea what the norm is. Thanks much.

I'm here right now and you see a mix of attire. I'm normally in jeans and polo shirt. While others wear shorts and tee shirts. I lean towards the being comfortable but looking professional at the same time.

I wear slacks, company polo and dress shoes.
It varies, but most wear slacks or jeans with a polo.

Sneak over to the Bombardier side for free breakfast.
Bahahahahaha

(Just don't get caught........getting expelled from Sim is not cool)!

Appreciate the info. What are typical class sizes? This would be for a Lear 35 sic. Thank you again.
2-10. My pic upgrade class consisted of myself and one other. Being it's a 35 SIC I'm willing to bet your class will be small.

Congratulations, its a a great airplane! If you get a chance find out the serial number of the airplane you're going to be flying, it'll be beneficial during training.

Thank you! That sounds like great advice and I will do just that before I head down. Pretty excited. Been grabbing anything I can find from the internet to go over. Memory Items, profiles, systems, even a Lear 35 "mockup" for X-Planes to get the scan up.

Sizes vary from 1-10 depending on program, seat, etc. They'll pair you with an instructor or SCM ("secondary crewmember") in the sims if you're alone or the odd man out in a class of like 3 or 5.

Most clients wear polos and jeans or slacks, though I've seen everything from airline-style uniform with tie all the way to shorts and flip flops.

Facility is really nice, food is good, area can be a lot of fun. I teach in another program. Shoot me a PM when you get in.

Thank you much for the info. My plan was just that, Jeans and Polo. I'll hold onto your info and give you a shout when I arrive. Haven't actually received a schedule yet but hoping to, tomorrow. Do the ground schools run typical day hours? Sim times? I was sent some class dates and picked the soonest which is next Tues. Just waiting on a confirmation and details.

To the other guy who asked, It's a Lear 35(?) Honestly don't have any more info then that and I haven't even seen the plane yet. But the work is local an supposedly home every night. Either this or off to a regional in November..

Ground school is scheduled from 0900-1800 though depending on day, instructor, and class size/engagement level the end time can be variable. There's typically a day break between ground and sims.

Sims run six 4-hour blocks, with the "A" slot being an 0630 brief for an 0730 sim; "B" 1030 brief, 1130 sim; "C" 1430/1530; "D" 1830/1930; "E" 2230/2330; and the dreaded "F" 0230/0330. I can't imagine the 35 being too busy honestly, so you'll probably have decent timing.

FWIW, I'm in the busiest program in the building and unless a sim goes down we very, very rarely do E's or F's, I can't imagine the 35 needing to do them.
