Have any of you done the CAE Simuflite right seat program. I would like to hear from people who went through the program and not people who just seemed to be pissed off at the world since they have a 1000 hours and not a decent flying job. I understand why people bash programs like these and ab-initio because they don't think it is right for students with half the time to fly right seat in a gulfstream or a regional aircraft. Any job or program is what you make of it and I would not look any differently on a pilot with 350 TT or 1000 TT. Experience is only half the battle. So if any one has any productive insight that would be great.
 
I havent done their right seat program but i have gone through two type rides in the last 4 months. I have also spoken with quite a few of their right seaters that have run in their programs. One of them was just hired and he said that with his low total and multi time it looked pretty good that he had alot of experience with CRM and also high altitude ops and all.

What if there are people out there that have gone through the program and are pissed off at the world because they don't have a decent flying job? Want to hear from them, too?

Well first off, do a search on it. I know I've talked a little bit about it on here awhile ago. Here's the link to the SimuFlite website telling all about the program: http://www.simuflite.com/career/rightseat.asp. Pretty much everything about the program is right there. But if you don't have someone recommend you, you're going to have a lot harder time getting in.

As far as the whole job thing...attitude is everything. It seems to me that you may be slightly pissed off at the world...however it's hard to tell since I'm only reading what you wrote. Don't get into the right seat program with the hopes of getting a job. Do the program for the learning experience. If you walk away with a job...great...if not, take what you learned and apply it somewhere else. Make the most of the experience, if you do, good things will happen.

Did you happen to fly with a right seater in the DA20? I got buddy in the program a couple of months ago in the 20...he's lovin it.

I went through for 135 initial in july.....

good to see a TN member here on the board...im based out of knox with the citation.

Cool, you're right up the road. I'm new to TN, only been here 3 months now, but it's pretty nice here. I might try to talk to Lloyd and see if we can come up with something for a mini NJC in Nashville for the people in the area.
 
I live in the DFW area and am interested in this program as well. Anyone have any tips on the best way to get in the program?

Have someone you know walk your resume in to one of the program managers. Even that could take awhile, but still speeds up the process and you'll have a better chance of getting in.

Other than that, Commercial ME & Instrument and around 500 or so hours. You can get in with less, but that's where the recommendation really comes into play.
 
Yeah, I think that is the whole idea. Instruct on the side and gain experience/hours while networking and learning about jet systems and procedures. Once your TT gets up there, hopefully you've met the right people through the program and are sittin' pretty.

Absolutely. The only time they really "got you" is during the training. After you finish the training, they call you when they need someone. If you can do, you go. If you can't do it, then someone else will do it. When I did it I was instructing. If they called and needed me when I wasn't flying or doing ground school, I'd go, otherwise the students came first...they paid the bills.

Ya know, I've heard that from a ground school instructor but all the pilots I've flown with haven't heard that yet (yeah the GS Inst was a Mech, he knew he stuff too).

Is it "ICAO Official" yet or just rumor?

I want to know why Dassault has to change theirs, why can't Diamond Aircraft just pick another designator....

Easy there killer...

We weren't fighting, I was just saying that I hadn't heard that it was "official". I did some research and apparently it has changed... But I'm still wondering who made the call on giving Dassault's designator to Diamond Aircraft after 40+ years...

And if you want to know "who cares", I do; its our industry and I'd like to know how the little things work...:)
