C525 missing over Lake Erie

Doesn't stop people from blowing through the 1500' restriction out of TEB and climbing into the EWR 22 final.

It's a pain and comes up extremely quick in the jet if you're not paying attention. RW24 is a noise abatement runway anyways (plus you should be under 200kts until 3000ft anyways because you're under the class bravo). So I usually power way back and ease up to 1500 ft. I've flown 2 types of planes where VNAV won't capture it with the autopilot on.

That's it exactly, set power after takeoff for 200 knots and 1000 fpm. Works great, your ticket lasts long time.

Why do you say that? Is it notoriously bad in icing? Granted anything would be bad in +FZRA. I'm asking because I'm ignorant about most biz jets--this one in particular. Does it have boots?
When I first saw the thread, I thought it might be an older CJ1 (C525). These aircraft, while fully capable don't have newer avionics systems, FADEC etc. I was expecting this story to involve one of these older airplanes. I'm quite surprised that it involves a CJ4 (C525C). These are the newest in the CJ line. It has hot wings (not boots) and a four screen Rockwell-Collins ProLine 21 avionics suite. VERY manageable for competent single pilot operation.

My surprise was (and is) that it involved a newer plane..... I believe this is the first accident for the CJ4.

He isn't typed in the CJ4....
I wasn't able to see but did he not have a C525 type?

Turns out if you blast off into the freezing rain bad things happen in any kind of airplane...

No argument from me on this point, I was just answering a direct question.

Also, I read the light snow at the time of take off but I haven't seen the freezing rain information.

If he is, the ticket is so wet that it hasn't shown up on the website yet...

Me taxing out at TEB "level off at WENTZ, level off at WENTZ, 1500 at WENTZ, WENTZ at 1500."

And on the ILS with DANDY: "DANDY at 1500, DANDY at 1500, DANDY at 1500"

DANDY gets people all the time lol. But it's not as big a deal (literally) as busting WENTZ. Scariest situation I ever had was a MexAF Gulfstream or Challenger depart 24 like a rocket and shot straight up to 3000. I don't know how he missed the A320 descending out of 3 for 2500. Wasn't talking to him yet so I'm on the line screaming at the tower to scream at him while watching the 2 targets merge.

According to the FAA site, it only shows a C510 mustang type rating.

Does anyone know how long a new type rating would take to show up with the FAA site? I would not be surprised if it took as long as it does for the new card to come which if the plane was bought in October and he received the training at that time would explain why it's not posted.

I always double checked we were going to cross WENTZ at 1500 on the departure briefing. Its pretty easy to copy the clearance to 2000 and not notice that 1500 is a crossing restriction on the departure plate.

Thank you
This adds a whole new level of WTH to this situation.

Not really,

as I stated I would bet money that it takes the same length of time to change the website as to issue the permanent plastic cards. They are only just now processing November 5th checkrides.

The plane was re-registered on October 14th.

Still, you have a 2 year PPL flying a jet single pilot? I wonder if his passengers knew...

While I didn't know John personally, I used to see him from time to time in the early 2000s at KOSU. I know he has been flying turbine equipment for over a decade. My guess is the 2015 issue date was either the CE-510 type or rotorcraft.

I find that a 50/50 dilution of bleach/water and soaking my tighty whiteys overnight allows them to return to white after a few washings.

This, of course, is after the surgeon removes the seat cushion from your upper colon.
