C-17 Down in Texas

There are entire websites dedicated to air disasters...so what?

While that's true, CNN is an internationally recognized news source, that for many is the go-to source. It's a case of sensationalism used to push the brand, which I believe is irresponsible journalism. I don't see a link for "Highway Mayhem" up there...

No patience for news organs that don't use reporters. Without someone on-scene watching the crap burn, you might as well be another toolbox on the internet with a keyboard and an opinion. I'll bet Brittany has at least one reporter assigned at all times, but they want us to cry because newspapers are going out of business? Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Well the AF did make an offical statement that there was a crash...

Most AF PIO's have more brains than to flat out say there was a crash, if they don't know it for sure. I have a hunch that the local news picked up a quote, Misquoted it and CNN and ran with it.

Kind of what I figure too.

CNN: "we hear there are reports of a C-17 down in Texas"

AF PIO: "We've received reports of a C-17 being down too, and are checking. We have no C-17s at Sheppard AFB."

CNN headline report becomes "C-17 reported down near Olney Tx. Sheppard AFB officials confirm a C-17 has crashed but state that the aircraft is not from their base"
