C-17 Crash Report

As the quarterback that was cut from the team, I'm curious about the statement "It is not clear whether Freyholtz was aware that Hill had retracted the flaps before starting the 260° turn." Were the flaps suppose to be retracted at that moment? On demo flights, does the flying pilot call for flap retraction (or extension) or is it briefed to be done at a specific time?

As 3rd string QB I would say that is tactical. I often watch the C-17s practice at VCV and am amazed at the profiles they fly. They fly the same at night.

They might be able to do some pretty impressive things for such a large jet, and they may also have tactical-like things such as sticks and HUD's, but the C-17 is by no stretch of the imagination "tactical"....at least not by the criteria that it is normally associated with

Hey Hacker,

Do you know where the AIB is posted? I'm wondering how close it tracks to what I know about this through some other channels.

According to the AIB, the flap retraction was a mistake.
