All the large freighters load that way. From my understanding it is to keep it from tipping during loading and unloading.

I would guess for efficiency. You can park airplanes a lot faster when they can power in.

Efficiency, roll the cans off the K-loader right into the building and unload onto the belt. That and the majority of the fleet has the cargo door towards the nose.
