But did you die?

I think your math was off (unless you don't get a lot of sun). I looking into panels for my house and it was going to be $62 a month. The solar shingles cost about the same as a standard roof.

It would take over a decade for me to break even. When solar becomes cheaper I'll take another look at it but right now theres no way I can afford it.

Solar power is rapidly becoming cheaper but up here with rates at $0.045 kWh it doesn't make sense. Currently, the break-even point for me would be 18 years!

Hi all. Haven’t posted in forever but this thread and a Reddit thread I saw brought a question to my mind. What happens to pilots who are making landings in poor conditions and bust through standard operating practices? If you’re landing and you pitch too high or roll too much and passengers complain what happens? I know dispatch sometimes calls sometimes but what’s the consequence?

Hope this question makes sense

Pulling into the gate, the tamper gave me a very sudden stop signal. Hit the brakes a little harder than I intended. Older lady with a “I’d like to speak to the manager” haircut asked me, rudely, if we’d hit something.

Last I ever heard about it.

Usually on approaches where we’re getting tossed around, passengers thank me for a safe landing.

You must not math very well (unless you live somewhere without much sun). Financing it through them, I figured the cost would be a bit less than my current electric bill, and I've got pretty cheap electric.
Or maybe you dont know enough about me personally to be able to speak intelligently about what I can and can not afford.

The solar panels I almost got were 0 down and $30 cheaper a month than my electric bill (balanced billing), 15 year finance. You should look into it again, you can do it for literally no money out of pocket. There's also a different model where you lease the panels but I didn't get info on that

Solar panels with Tesla battery. Problem solved.
Have a system going in hopefully in May. California has some great incentives for energy storage along with the federal solar rebates. SCE has some interesting pricing and with this addition we won't pay an electric bill for as long as we live in this house. That being said, there are certain states where the electricity is practically free and it makes very little sense financially to make the jump. Now my inner tree hugger is happy about this set up but I also understand it isn't available to everyone.

If you can't afford the panels being financed, then you can't afford your electric bill, because you're just replacing one with the other.
If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can build panels yourself. Makes them a bit cheaper. Lots of people have been building battery banks on their own to.

Because why should I only worry about dying in a battery fire only at work?

Actually, those are awesome. We are entertaining the idea of moving sometime soon, but if we end up staying it would be a good idea.
Lemme guess by dying in a battery fire you mean having a pallet of Lit Ion batteries start firing off with fire suppression unable to stop them.

I mean, it’s not sexy like li-ion but I think for something like a power wall where weight isn’t as big a concern lead-acid batteries still kind of win? Maybe not anymore.
