Busy out there…

I couldn’t believe how busy it was at the airport this weekend… It was a holiday weekend, and even on a Sunday morning we were being paged for Warriors! Great weather we had this weekend... and it was good to see a lot of you guys out there

I've actually been maintenanced trying to get a warrior before. It was in 222 and I think all the private guys were trying to get night flights in or something. Getting maintenanced in the arrow or seminole can almost be counted on multiple times, but the warrior, not so much.

Yeah I love getting the book 15 mins after my student's launch time and still trying to get everything done on a lesson. :banghead:

Also, love how saturated the pattern has been lately. :sarcasm:

:yeahthat:
I feel your pain... it's a challenge for sure to get all of this stuff done in one flight. I just wish there was time to squeeze more landings into these lessons... if only we could have the airplane for 15 more minutes or so

Just to let you guys now, if you want the airplane longer for another 15 mins. or so, call dispatch on the radio and see if you can have it. If it's not too busy they will give it to you (depends who is working...). But remember, don't ask for an extension every time you go fly either...

I guess everyone is trying to get their flying done before the WX goes down hill...

It was busy yesterday as hell, I was at the airport and was suppose to fly. It was a quick turn and Sioux 29 right mags were dropping more than 250RPM during runup. We tried burning the • out, but the drop was still huge. Nothing like taxing on a runway not being able to take off after holding short :(

At least that amazing taxi experience was paid for by UND! Plus you got parking practice, which is SORELY needed around here :P

the weather has been absolutely GORGEOUS. makes me wanna sit in my backyard and grill, not go flying.

So who's that lady in the tower with the damn near mechanical sounding voice? Probably the most unattractive voice I've ever heard. :) I kid I kid, although she doesn't seem to have a grasp of what's going on most of the time.

lol, everytime I hear her I laugh. She has been pulled off tower and ground multiple times because she has no clue whatsoever. Absolutely terrible, hopefully she gets better.

I want to go up there and put a face to the voice and to see if she is as butch as she really sounds.

Oh I know, like telling me to turn base WAY before I would ever normally turn for no apparent reason. Calling back "unable" didn't change anything as far as me or another airplane doing something different, so I dunno.

As far as I know, tower controllers are only allowed to shorten the upwind-crosswind-downwind end of your pattern, not the downwind-base-final portion. They can only extend that part of it. I could be way off, but thats how I kind of understand it.

So Lucas, do you have any spin slots open? I just got put in today. :) You're a spin instructor right?

thirded. that lady has done some seriously weird patterns for me before, and made some outright dangerous calls on occassion. always wise to keep your head out of the cockpit as much as possible when approaching the pattern at GFK.... ive had some "surprise" traffic coming head to head before.... un-fun.

You mean that chick who sounds like she pulls up to the tower FAA parking slot in her F-150, flannel shirt, short crew cut, and Birkenstocks?

I think I saw the mannish woman controller the other day at K-mart. She was in the mens department getting 5 shirts for the price of one.

I wish I would have checked this earlier, I was looking for someone to go with me today because all my slots are filled by dudes who can't fly right now.

PM me, I might be able to get you done tomorrow morning, or on Sunday when I get back from the acro competition (that is if you aren't assigned, or I could just assign you to my list and we can get it done).

Doing great joe.. flyin the seminole and just chillin. how about you have a good summer and by the way are you a flight instructor yet?
