Bush's Airplane

At least when he got back to Texas, he wasn't wearing a flight suit with a "mission accomplished" banner behind him this time.:D

I think he will be alright, he was flying for the old man Bush and then Clinton and then W, I can't imagine the 74 time he has!
He only flew the 74 for Dubya; during the previous administrations, he flew the First Lady, Vice President, etc, probably in a 757.

There isn't an "AF One" pilot. There is a "wing" (the 89th Airlift Wing and the 1st Airlift Squadron) that supports the presidential airlift as well as other dignitaries. The crew members are qualed in multiple airplanes and can be "moved" as required.

So you're saying it's sheer coincidence that the same dude was the AC for AF1 for the past 8 years? Um, no. Dude was selected for the job, which coincided with Bush 43's term.

By the way, NGC is showing "On Board Air Force One" Sunday night (8:00?), followed by "On Board Marine One". Got the Tivo all set up.

Should be an interesting show. I really want to see the part on what happened when Bush flew all over the country on September 11.

I used to work with someone who was part of the Marine guard that worked Marine One. He had some interesting stories!

I wish I had been in the area and on frequency when the request went in to change the call sign from Air Force One to SAM 2800. Did anybody get to hear it?

Bush took off well after he was no longer the pres so, the AF1 call sign was never used.

When did I say that? Never. Obviously, you are picked for the position...I only stated that he isn't the ONLY pilot to be the "A" code when the prez was on board.

Hey...the runways in Champaign are short and narrow. It wasn't the pilot's fault.:D

Hey, I never cited fault...I am just saying what happened to the guy.

And as for the special on History Channel...it's like a lot of other things. Highly dramatized for the viewing public. Although I have never been assigned to Andrews, I have had flown enough trips "in support of" and have enough friends up there to know that at least 25% of what they have said on the show is BS. It kinda reminds me of the media.

That was a one time deal when President Nixon resigned ;). Way before my time anyway.

The TFRs for Crawford, Texas (WACO area) should now be a thing of the past.

:nana2::nana2::nana2:

P-49 is still there, it just didn't go to 30 miles and infinity when he came home the other day. Hopefully it will go away, but it might stay, Kennebunkport is still there. Right now its only 5 miles and 5000 feet. What will be real interesting is when he moves to the Highland Park Area in Dallas and it follows him there, that'll probably screw up a good VFR route in Class B

Kenebunkport is really no big deal for us up here. Its like 1 nm in diameter up to 2000 feet. I'll have to check for the actual numbers as its been a while since I've been south of PWM.

Edit: Its actually 1000 ft for P-67

So I know after he left Washington for Midland he was still on the 747, but after that he was flying back to Crawford. Anyone here what his plane of choice was for that flight? Or what he'll fly from now on?

Thank god no more airport closures due to Bush.
